Back and neck pain can be a symptom for numerous problems, like disc or spinal issues. Common symptoms that there is a significant underlying issue include arm pain, leg pain, numbness, tingling, weakness, dull or sharp pain, stiffness, shoulder pain, and even headaches.

When over-the-counter pain medications and other traditional treatments like diet, exercise, and therapy, don’t work, there are actually a number of surgeries that can help alleviate the pain.

Kyphoplasty and vertebroplasty are both minimally invasive procedures that help alleviate spinal pain. A laminectomy is a surgical procedure that creates more space for the spinal canal, relieving pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. There are spinal fusions (such as posterior cervical fusion and posterior lumbar interbody fusion) that call for welding two or more vertebrae together to create one unit. A discectomy removes part of a disc to relieve nerve pressure. Cervical disc replacements remove damaged or degenerated discs and replaces them with artificial discs. A corpectomy also removes damaged vertebrae and discs.
