SERVICES OUR NEUROLOGISTS MAY REQUEST DURING YOUR VISIT

EEG

An Electroencephalogram (EEG) is a painless procedure that measures the eletrical activity of a patient’s brain by placing electrodes on the head to detect any problems. An EEG is an important tool used to evaluate and diagnose seizures, causes of confusion and degenerative diseases.

EMG/NCS

An Electromyography (EMG) uses a fine wire electrode to evaluate the activity of the patient’s muscles. The Nerve Conduction Study (NCS) involves stimulating the nerves with a small amount of electricity and recording how each nerve conducts this signal along its course. The EMG and the NCS are utilized in diagnosis of a pinched nerve in the arm or leg, as well as muscle and neuromuscular disorders.
